Smart Community
One of the most important areas of digitisation in the field of public administration has been in development for years under the name Smart City. However, there are good reasons to talk about Smart Community instead of Smart City. First of all, it is a fact that a significant part of the population does not live in cities. Perhaps even more important than that, however, is to direct the focus of digitisation to what is essential – the community. Whether urban or rural, the community forms the familial, the societal, the social, and often the professional anchorage of the people living in it.
Smart community is the response of municipalities to the ongoing digitisation of society. It uses the advantages of technology to make the functions of everyday life more convenient and to increase the quality of life. However, it also uses technology to strengthen the common good and bring the community back to what it is – a community of interest for its residents.
